New Pond Syndrome
Please note that there is a natural period of stabilisation of the ecosystem of a pond following a pond clean. The result of this can be green water ('new pond syndrome') and an aesthetically less pleasing feature for a period of a few weeks. This should settle down over time as the pond re-gains a natural balance.
Notes:
Although we take every care in looking after the well-being of aquatic lifeforms, it must be noted that
fish may be vulnerable during a clean (due to the proportional build-up of waste) and may perish. Young fish are
particularly at risk and some may be lost during a thorough clean.
During a pond clean there may be some trampling of grass underfoot. This should not be considered too great a problem, but may leave the lawn looking a little untidy for a short time.
On the finding of any endangered species, Head Squared may be required to stop any further cleaning and to take steps to minimise any harm being caused to these species. Where appropriate, Head Squared will complete the clean once all reasonable mitigation work has been completed by the Client.
